The New York City Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon and book signing for the Proudly She Served book on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the General Society Library (20 Est 44th St, NY City). The event also celebrates Women Veterans Day, observed on June 12 in the United States, a date chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. Women Veterans Day honors the work of women in the military and recognizes their unique challenges. The luncheon and book signing will include local dignitaries, the Proudly She Served Executive Director and New York based artist - Steve Alpert, the Proudly She Served Project Director, retired naval aviator and officer - Linda Maloney and six of the twelve Proudly She Served portrait participants.
The Barnes & Noble Tribeca store (97 Warren St, New York, NY 10007) is hosting a Portrait Unveiling and Book Signing on June 13, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST. The event also celebrates Women Veterans Day, observed on June 12 in the United States, a date chosen to celebrate the anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act. Women Veterans Day honors the work of women in the military and recognizes their unique challenges. The Proudly She Served book signing will include the unveiling of the 12 portraits. James Hendon, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Veterans' Services and former Army Officer, will be speaking at the event and several of our women veteran portrait participants will offer their remarks.
